The Wellbeing and Recovery Research Institute, known as ‘WARRI’, was borne from our commitment to helping those most vulnerable in our community by providing best practice psychological treatment which is supported and validated by ongoing evidence-based research.
WARRI is a not-for-profit registered charity dedicated to carrying out scientific research related to the delivery and evaluation of innovative evidence-based programs for mental health and wellbeing. We have a specific focus on providing evidence-based research on programs and treatment; including suicide prevention, complex trauma, and addiction treatment (nicotine, alcohol, methamphetamines, opioids, gaming, and gambling).
We work in collaboration with a range of stakeholders, academic institutions, and our affiliated psychological service provider, PsychMed, who provides free, accessible, evidence-based, and culturally appropriate psychological services to those most in need in our community. Conducting local program-based research through WARRI ensures the ongoing quality, efficacy, and effectiveness across treatment programs for all clients, and provides best practice intervention efficacy research for the wider scientist-practitioner and academic community.
Our name – the Wellbeing and Recovery Research Institute – highlights our focus on wellness, positive psychology, and recovery for those most in need, in order to help individuals rebuild their lives and enhance their full potential.
At WARRI we embrace diversity and inclusivity, and are committed to innovation in health, wellbeing, and recovery research. Through research, WARRI endeavours to ensure the evidence-based effectiveness of treatment programs and improve the effectiveness of these programs and services, through innovative program replication and collaborative peer reviewed research, community engagement, and research dissemination.
We are committed to designing, conducting, and communicating research into cutting edge treatments for mental health, wellbeing, and recovery.
